Here comes the last public talk in 2019, it was another new sharing on different topic this time. This time, I had planned to deliver knowledge on the truth behind superfoods and the emergence of phytochemicals.
Superfood, has been so appealing that everyone would like to take them as the amazing thing for optimizing his/health. it is in fact appears without any official definition, but undeniably kind of food full of nutrients good for health. However, along with the exaggeration by lots of companies and media, it has become ubiquity in the current era.
The common food claimed as superfood are kale, butternut squash, chiaseed, berries etc. Those foods are recognized as superfood, mostly due to the presence of phytochemicals which known as good antioxidants. For example, blueberries are the source of resveratrol and anthocyanins, which known anti-inflammation and anti-cancer properties.
Phytochemicals, are the group of plant chemicals playing a role in creating attractive colour on the plants and being the protective barriers against the invasion of bacteria, virus, pests and natural disaster and so on. They are the soldiers in the plants to protect against the free radicals. Until here, what are the examples of food appears in your mind?
